Champions of England - Week 3

Welcome to week three of our first Premier Skills English Course!

This course lasts 4 weeks and will take you through different materials on the Premier Skills English website. Each week, we will publish a series of lessons, discussions and an end of week quiz. 

To start the course, you need to click on the Take this course button on the side of the page.

When you have started the course, the first lesson will unlock. You can go through the course by completing the lessons. When you have finished a lesson, click on the Mark as complete button. This will unlock the next lesson in the course.

In week two we spoke about Riyad Mahrez, comparatives and the global story that is Leicester City Football Club. This week we are going to learn more about another of Leicester's star players - Jamie Vardy. We're also going to focus on how we link sentences together.

Stage 1: The first stage in the course is Football Vocabulary: The Game. This vocabulary will be very useful throughout the course. Do you know the difference between an open goal and an own goal?

Stage 2: The second stage is the Players of the Season: Jamie Vardy article. Here you will read all about one of Leicester’s star players and learn more about his story and where he comes from.

Stage 3: Discussion - Surprises Leicester City's Premier League win was a big surprise. Here you can discuss this surprise and any other surprises in the world of football.

Stage 4: The fourth stage is the Premier Skills English Podcast - Idioms. In this week’s podcast, Jack and Rich talk about the FA Cup and the Jamie Vardy movie.

Stage 5: Jamie Vardy - The Movie In this stage, you are going to read about what a Jamie Vardy movie might look like. It has a great plot!

Stage 6: The Beautiful Game In this stage, take a look at one of our comics. This one is all about showing respect!

Stage 7: In this stage, we are going to look at language used to link sentences together. After you have finished the exercises about linking words, try practising them in the comments section.

Stage 8: The eighth stage of week one is the Player Interview: Films. This week's topic has been films and here some Premier League stars talk about their favourite films and actors.

End of week 3 quiz. This quiz will feature questions from across the stages of week 3.
