  • Introduction: Facebook Live!
Our Facebook Live event is an introduction to our activity week. Jack and Rich will tell you about the lessons we have for you this week and we will also look at the vocabulary quizzes we have been running on the British Council - Premier Skills Facebook page over the last few days. This event will take place on the Premier Skills - British Council Facebook page and on the Premier Skills English website.
  • Lesson 1: Film Vocabulary
    Film Vocabulary
In this lesson, we're going to present lots of vocabulary related to films. We're going to talk about different types of films, different jobs and roles in films, we're going to talk about old films and new films and the technology that’s used to make films and as well as all of this, we’re going to talk about the language you can use when you discuss films.
  • Lesson 2: Player Interviews - Films
What kind of films do you like?
Find out what kinds of films Premier League players enjoy. Do they like the same films as you? Watch the video with four Premier League players and tell us the type of films that you like!
  • Lesson 3: Five ways film can improve your English
Jack and Rich talk about the language of films. They discuss two films about football that they really like and introduce lots of vocabulary about movies. They also share five tips that will help you use films to improve your English. They also have a football phrase for you to guess!
  • Lesson 4: Grammar: The Passive Voice
In this lesson, there are lots of different examples of how to use the passive and some interactive activities to help your understanding. At the end of the page, there is a quiz to test that you have understood and we ask you to write passive sentences and ask other people on the activity week to comment, correct and give your opinions on the sentences.
  • Lesson 5: Football English Blog
Our weekly Football English Blog is when we write about something connected to the world of football and teach you lots of football English. This week we are discussing films about football and footballers in the movies. Do you know any good football movies? Do footballers make good actors?
  • Lesson 6: Film website webquest
In this lesson, we take you on a tour of some popular websites that are all about film. We set you some questions and challenges and you have to come back to the comments section and tell us what you discovered.
  • Lesson 7: Task: Write a film review
