Champions of England - Week 4

Champions of England - Week 4

Welcome to week four - the final week of our first Premier Skills English Course!

This course lasts 4 weeks and will take you through different materials on the Premier Skills English website. Each week, we will publish a series of lessons, discussions and an end of week quiz.

To start the course, you need to click on the Take this course button on the side of the page.

When you have started the course, the first lesson will unlock. You can go through the course by completing the lessons. When you have finished a lesson, click on the Mark as complete button. This will unlock the next lesson in the course.

We hope you enjoy all of the lesson materials and join in the discussions.

In the course so far, we have learned a lot about the players and the club at Leicester City. This week we are going to learn more about the city of Leicester and what it would like to visit the city for a holiday or come to Leicester to study or work. What is there to do and see in the city? We're also going to focus some different future forms to help you with your writing and speaking.

Stage 1: The first stage in the course is Football Vocabulary: Fans at the match. This vocabulary will be very useful throughout the course. What vocabulary do you need when visiting a stadium? What's a turnstile? Should I buy a programme?

Stage 2: The second stage is the Visiting Leicester - What to do and see? article. Here you will read all more about what you can do if you visit Leicester for a weekend or longer and also the impact that Leicester City's victory is having on the local economy.

Stage 3: Discussion - Visiting a city in the UK Leicester City's Have you ever visited the UK? Which cities have you visited? What did you see? What did you enjoy? Which city would you like to visit in the future? Here you can discuss different cities in the UK and your experiences and expectations.

Stage 4: The fourth stage is the Premier Skills English Podcast - I'm confused. In this week’s podcast, Jack and Rich talk about some different cities in the UK and the language we use to find them on the map.

Stage 5: The English Game: Sightseeing In this stage, watch Mei-li from China and Ana from Brazil as they plan their day out in Manchester. They are going sightseeing in Manchester and need some help with public transport.

Stage 6: Email Lesson - Buying a ticket In this stage, you can learn about the language you need to buy a Premier League ticket. Jack wants to take a friend to a match at Liverpool's stadium, Anfield. He's not sure how to get a ticket. He contacts Rich for some advice.

Stage 7: In this stage, we are going to look at future forms and the different ways we can talk about the future. After you have finished the exercises about future forms, try practising them in the comments section in this article and other pages on the Premier Skills English website..

Stage 8: The eighth stage of week one is the Player Interview: What do you like about the UK?. This week's topic has been sightseeing and UK cities, and here are some Premier League stars talk about what they like about the UK.

End of week 3 quiz. This quiz will feature questions from across the stages of week 4.

We hope you enjoy the materials and join in the discussions.

Good luck with the course.

Jack and Rich

[We hope you enjoy the materials and join in the discussions.]
Why we add ‘in’ to ‘join’ here? I thought that we say: ‘join the discussions’ or just ‘join in’.
We hope you enjoy the materials and join the discussions. Or,
We hope you enjoy the materials and join in.

This is a difficult one. There is often no difference in meaning but here we say 'join in' because it has a meaning that tells us that you are joining an activity that has already started.

ok Rich, thank you, I get! It might be an impossibility to master the phrasal verbs! They need a lot of hard work.
