Introduction to week 4 of the World Cup Community Programme

Welcome to week four of the World Cup Community Programme. We hope you are enjoying the World Cup as much as we are. Last week, there were some huge matches and we said "Прощай" (goodbye in Russian) to some of the biggest names in football. Only Belgium, France, Croatia and England remain. 

This is the final week in this four-week programme designed around the World Cup and English. Each week, there have been lessons for you to complete that will teach you about the countries that are competing, the language you need when watching the match and special grammar and vocabulary related to the World Cup.

In this final week, we have another webquest for you to complete. This week you will learn about Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Croatia, France, Spain and Uruguay. There are country fact files on all of the countries with lots for you to learn.

We have two more Football Shout-out lessons. This week, the focus is on what you say when your team has a set piece and what you say after the match.

The final World Cup Podcast is Learning Vocabulary: Congratulations and commiserations and focuses on what you say to your friends when their teams win and when they lose. The task is for you to write messages of congratulations and commiserations to fans of the teams in the quarter and semi-finals. 

At the end of the week, there is an end of programme test with questions from all of the four weeks This will be available on Friday. If you pass the quiz, you will be able to download a certificate.
